QUẢNG NAM — The show Hội An Memories, the largest outdoor visual arts performance ever in Việt Nam, debuted yesterday at Hội An Impression Theme Park in the central province of Quảng Nam.
The colorful and musically dazzling night show, with a cast of nearly 500 actors and actresses, recalls the memories of Hội An as a prosperous trading port over a 400-year period.
The theatre uses the waters of Hoài River as its 25,000-sq m stage along with state-of-the-art lighting technology and sophisticated sound effects, said Đào Quang Tùng, representative of the show producer.
More than 100 girls in Áo dài (Vietnamese traditional long dress) on stage tell the story about the charming beauty of Vietnamese women and the peaceful life of the local people.
It took nearly two years to produce the one-hour show which is scheduled every night and is expected to attract more than 3,000 guests per show, he said.
The show is part of a creative cultural and arts programme that aims to introduce the culture and history of historic Hội An town to local and international tourists, historian Dương Trung Quốc, a member of the show’s consulting team, said.
This contemporary art form, which has been successfully performed in many countries, is expected to help expand the number of night entertainment activities for tourists when they visit Hội An, Quốc said.
The show is a key component of the Hội An Impression Theme Park that will open in the second quarter of this year.
The 10-hectare theme park in Hội An includes indoor and outdoor theatres, shopping and entertainment complexes, and 200 hotel rooms. — VNS
